Main House
The original part of the main house at Weston was built in the early 1800s by the Fitzhugh family. The house was first expanded just prior to the Civil War and several more times afterwards. It features a steeply-pitched gable roof with gable dormers and decoratively sawn bargeboards and eaves trim—common characteristics of the Carpenter Gothic style.
Log Kitchen
The log kitchen was built in the early 1800s and served as the main kitchen for Weston for many years. In addition to a large fire place for cooking and an upstairs living quarter, this building has a 15 by 15 foot wing in which slaves and farm workers were served their meals. From the early 20th century up until 1940s, this section of the kitchen became know as the Black Horse and was used as a gift shop and office by the Nourse sisters who owned Weston until their death's in the late 1950s.
